2012 Kalani High School: ALC art program

In November of 2011 East3 and Diverse Art 501(c)3 partnered on an art workshop at Kalani High School KHS 4680 Kalanianaole Hwy, Honolulu, HI. This model was designed to educate the students of KHS Alternative Learning Center ALC using art as a creative learning vehicle. The 2 month workshop included values such as team work, organizational skills and diligence which aided in creating a collaborative mural for the project finally. The workshop focused on color theory , custom lettering designed by the students and learning aerosol painting techniques.  Our workshop involves using aerosol art because the style & medium resonates with the youth. We educated the youth about the approach of using the medium positively and how it can impact our community. After the 8 week course was completed, we observed an increase in confidence within the students as well as their development through being engaged through out the entire course.
